Samsung rolls out One UI to TVs, everything is new here


As announced earlier this month, Samsung is bringing One UI to its Tizen-powered TVs, and the updates are rolling out now.

Samsung’s One UI has been present on the company’s Galaxy smartphones for a number of years, but at its latest developer conference, Samsung announced plans to bring One UI to all its major product lines, including televisions. Now, well ahead of expectations, Samsung has started rolling out One UI for select TVs, including those released in 2023.

The update brings a number of UI updates across the system, including a ‘For You’ tab on the home screen full of ‘personalized recommendations’ and a new ‘Watch Later’ list – looking a lot like Google TV.

The people there SamMobile first reported on the rollout and captured the full changelog of updates from Samsung.

[Samsung Tizen OS Updated]

[Workout Tracker]

[Remote Setting/123/Colour Button]

  • Based on usage history and current conditions, customized channel and setting recommendations can be provided

[SmartThings]

  • loT cameras can be used via the Smart Things app on mobile devices

[Accessibility]

  • The Accessibility Shortcut can rearrange the options based on frequency of use.

[Programme guide]

  • The design has been updated to increase user convenience and “Samsung TV Plus” has been added as a new category.

[On-screen keypad]

  • Supported languages ​​are extensive. The drag and drop function of the mouse has been improved and when a mobile device is connected, the input panel is automatically displayed on the mobile screen.

[Game Bar]

  • The game bar interface has been changed to the latest design.

[Multi View]

  • Certain apps may not be compatible with Samsung Tizen OS 8.0. Check compatibility with app providers before upgrading your device.

Samsung warns that some apps may not yet work with the latest Tizen update, v8.0, but the update as a whole sounds like a welcome upgrade. Users can choose to install the update immediately when it arrives, when the TV is off, or do it ‘later’.
