LIFELINE Blood Services Announces Fight for the Armed Forces
Jackson, TN – LIFELINE Blood Services embraces the spirit of friendly competition to make a lifesaving impact! Starting Monday, November 11, both LIFELINE center locations will host a blood drive competition known as the Battle of the Armed Forces. This marks the 4th annual Battle of the Armed Forces event, which will last until Friday, November 16.
During this time, we encourage donors to visit LIFELINE centers at 183 Sterling Farms Drive, Jackson, TN, or 1130 Highway 51 Bypass Suite 19 & 20, Dyersburg, TN. Here’s the twist: When donors make a contribution, they have the opportunity to do so on behalf of one of the armed forces branches. Donors can simply sign up on the appropriate sheet representing the chosen organization. It is important to note that this blood drive welcomes everyone, not just military personnel.
“Donating blood is a great way to honor a veteran in your life,” says Melinda Reid, marketing manager for LIFELINE Blood Services. “Last year was our 3rd Annual battle between the armed forces and the army has won the battle! 91 units were collected impacting up to 273 lives of Western TN patients. Every blood donation can save up to three lives, so we encourage everyone to come and donate.”
For those interested in participating, LIFELINE Blood Services’ Jackson location is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. In the meantime, the Dyersburg location is open Sunday through Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., as well as Saturday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Walk-ins are always welcome at both centers, and if you have any questions or need assistance, please please feel free to contact us at 731.427.4431, ext. 0.
LIFELINE provides blood services to 21 West Tennessee counties, including 17 hospitals and 17 emergency helicopter service locations and 1 ground ambulance service. Annually, the Center collects approximately 26,000 blood products (red blood cells, platelets, plasma, etc.) to meet the needs of patients. Of that total, 75% of those products are collected at the bloodmobiles in West Tennessee. LIFELINE also provides reference laboratory and cross-matching services to healthcare facilities.
