Is Batman: Arkham Shadow a direct sequel?
It’s been a while since we’ve received a play in the game Arkham series, so you might be happy to hear that Batman: Arkham Shadow takes place in that same universe.
Takes place between the events of Batman: Arkham Origins And Batman: Arkham Asylumyou are once again cast as the Caped Crusader as he tries to protect Gotham City from a new threat known as the Rat King. This new villain has kidnapped several city officials with plans for their execution, leaving Batman with just a week to rescue them and bring about justice once again.
Even though you are part of the bigger thing Arkham universe, but you shouldn’t feel the need to have played the other games in the series. While there are plenty of references and plot points that franchise fans will undoubtedly pick up on, Batman: Arkham Shadow remains a fine, standalone Gotham adventure.
Who has developed Batman: Arkham Shadow?
Batman: Arkham Shadow was developed by Meta developer Camouflaj, the team behind the fairly well-received 2020 PSVR exclusive, Iron Man VR. Before being bought by Meta to work on VR games in-house, Camouflaj also made episodic stealth games, Republic.
What platforms are Batman: Arkham Shadow available for?
Batman: Arkham Shadow is available exclusively for the Meta Quest 3 VR headset. At the time of writing, Camouflaj hasn’t revealed any plans to bring the game to competing headsets like PlayStation VR2, although considering they’re owned by Meta, that seems highly unlikely. It’s Meta Quest 3 or nothing if you want to play it soon.
The good news is that anyone who purchases a Meta Quest 3 or Meta Quest 3S before April 25, 2025 will receive a Batman: Arkham Shadow included with the purchase of the headset. If you’ve been VR curious but haven’t taken the plunge yet, I’d say this is a pretty good incentive!
That said, the Meta Quest 3 may feel a bit pricey at $499. If you don’t mind the small (though admittedly noticeable) downgrade in pixel count and resolution, the Meta Quest 3S retains much of the same technology for $299.
Who voices Batman? Batman: Arkham Shadow?
Fans will be happy to hear that Arkham origin’ Roger Craig Smith returns once again to voice The Dark Knight himself. A lot of VR games are on the short side, so you might be surprised to hear that Batman: Arkham Shadow can take quite some time. In fact, completing the game can take without any side content 8 to 10 hours.
