The man came up with the idea after seeing what he jokingly described as a “7-star pit.”
Potholes have become a major problem nationwide, and Bengaluru, known as the technology hub of India, is no exception. The city has gained fame for its growing number of potholes. This has become a major headache for daily commuters. Despite numerous accidents and persistent complaints from residents, the local government has not yet managed to implement a sustainable solution. Amid this ongoing frustration, one man decided to take a humorous approach to the issue, announcing his plans to develop an app for rating and rating potholes.
Sivaramakrishnan Narayanan, co-founder and CTO at Fyle, an expense management company, took to the I recently saw a seven-star pothole and was sad that it didn’t get the recognition it deserved. Who’s participating?”
We plan to build an app that will help us rate and review potholes in Bengaluru. I recently saw a seven-star pothole and felt sad that it didn’t get the recognition it deserved. Who’s participating?

In the next post he continued: “This has kind of taken off. I don’t have anything to plug into… Except maybe some potholes.”
The post sparked an interesting conversation online, with many actually supporting the idea, along with their own funny shots. One user further developed the app concept with his ideas: “Give each pothole a unique ID. Make it recognizable based on city name and PIN code. Ask people to write/print ID on a small flag, place it in the center of the attraction and then upload the photo. Make geocoordinates public.”

One user mocked the city’s potholes, adding: ‘Your 7 star pothole can’t compare to the sinkhole on the ORR service road near my house. The revered monument is clearly marked by a tree branch in the typical ‘luru style’. I’m going to create so much hype that the Ejipura Stonehenge will scream for attention.”

“This is actually a fantastic idea,” one person wrote.
One user chimed in and recommended expanding the plan to other cities: “I suggest you should consider expanding this to other cities as well. There are many hidden 7 star gems here.”

As residents of Bengaluru continue to express their frustrations over potholes on social media, influential business leaders such as Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw and Mohandas Pai recently joined the conversation and expressed their concerns over the deteriorating condition of the roads.
Earlier in August, the Biocon chairman expressed her frustration over the deteriorating infrastructure and dismal road conditions in Bengaluru.
