Attend ‘Data Under the Stars’ at CCM and learn more about data science and artificial intelligence

RANDOLPH — To gain insight into data science and artificial intelligence, County College of Morris (CCM) will host “Data Science Night: Data Under the Stars” on Thursday, November 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. , an interactive event for students aged 15 and over, including adult students and working professionals.

Data science is one of the fastest growing and most in-demand career fields, offering high-paying job opportunities. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, data science jobs are expected to grow 36% by 2031, with an average salary of more than $100,000. With industry-leading certifications and training, CCM equips its graduates with the skills needed to thrive in this competitive market. Participants in the Data Science Night learn more about the field and how they can get started with this exciting process.

Throughout the evening, CCM faculty will offer hands-on workshops on the building blocks of data science, such as data visualization with Tableau, natural language processing and graphics in Python, Excel data analysis, and RStudio statistical analysis. CCM’s Longo Planetarium features ‘Illustris Data Under the Dome’, which explores a universe of data under the night sky. CCM students and alumni, as well as industry members and other academic partners, will provide information and facilitate discussions about working toward a fulfilling career in data science.

According to Professor Nancy E. Binowski, Department of Information Technology at CCM, “Data science and AI are part of the future of our society. We’re just beginning to discover what AI can do for us as tools like ChatGPT and DALL-E become more powerful and gain in popularity. Several industries are rapidly embracing AI to improve every facet of their business. Join us and discover how you can be part of this exciting evolution!”

Participants can also explore CCM’s Data Analytics Certificate: a flexible, five-course path that can be completed in two semesters and applied toward the Associate of Science in Data Science degree. Representatives from NJIT and Rowan will be present to review options for transferring to a bachelor’s or master’s degree after graduation from CCM. CCM’s Workforce Development team is also ready to help someone explore the university’s Non-Credit Certificate in Data Analytics and Visualization, an impressive degree to help someone break into the data science field or their current give your career a boost!
