Brabus Clowns BMW with 1,000 hp AMG GT Shooting Brake

Like a Swiss army knife from Victorinox, a shooting brake creates an almost inexplicable appeal. There’s a distinct awkwardness to the shape of any car made in this style, but that oddity creates an appeal because such a vehicle is proudly multifunctional. In addition to the looks and performance of a selfish machine like a sports car, there is also something inviting about a car that is much more spacious and practical than its traditional alternative.

Engine
4.0 liter Twin-Turbo V8 gas

Horsepower
577 hp

Brabus captured this dual objective perfectly by unveiling the Rocket GTS during an elaborate fashion show, and as is most common for the tuner, the new creation is based on something from Affalterbach: the Mercedes-AMG GT.

Exposed carbon fiber everywhere

The new bodywork was refined with computer-aided design and computational fluid dynamics technologies, and then Brabus further optimized the design in the wind tunnel. Once the correct shapes were formed, the entire body was fabricated from carbon fiber using prepreg processes. As you can see from the images, the whole thing is much wider, with the rear axle now spanning over 78 inches. Muscular arches, larger curtain intakes up front, a larger splitter, winglets behind the front wheels, large side skirts, huge air vents behind the rear wheels and a prominent rear diffuser.

And it’s not even the most powerful Brabus ever made.

On paper that might all sound awful, given how obnoxious some Brabus builds can be, but on this occasion the tuner has transformed itself into, shall we say, a coachbuilder. Despite retaining the sinister look and feel of all Brabus creations, there is a degree of restraint here that players like Mansory can learn from. Sure, the red LED lights in the exhaust tips are a bit redundant, but the way the rear haunches flow into an integrated ducktail under a modest roof spoiler is pure art. Even the Monoblock P ‘Platinum Edition’ wheels sound grotesque but still fit the overall theme, drawing heat from the brakes while adding a touch of drama.

The unique bodywork deserves to be on a special drivetrain, and the underlying machine is the hybrid GT 63 SE Performance, which already has a ridiculous 805 hp and 1,047 Nm of torque as standard. Of course, Brabus couldn’t leave the engine bay untouched, and the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 has been transformed into a 4.4-liter monster that produces up to 784 hp and 921 lb-ft of torque on its own (limited to 774). lb-ft). Combined you get 1,000 metric horsepower (985 hp in our money), with 1,342 lb-ft of torque. To protect the nine-speed transmission and drivetrain from unnecessary stress, the latter is limited to 1,195 lb-ft. That should be enough, right?

From 0 to 100 km/h takes just 2.6 seconds, and doubling that from rest takes 9.5 seconds. Acceleration from 0 to 300 km/h can be achieved in just 23.6 seconds, with top speed limited to just under 310 km/h. Of course, something like this could be parked in a community with neighbors who care about their air quality, so the custom exhaust gets special catalytic converters and particulate filters, as well as switchable valves to keep the volume down.

Inside, the 2+2 cabin is awash in soft black leather, accented by the slate gray seat centers, door panels and instrument trim. Black Alcantara also appears, along with diamond stitching. Of course, more carbon fiber can be found, including in the illuminated sills, pedals and parts of the steering wheel, the center console and the door handles. Decorative elements such as the switches, ventilation openings and speaker grilles are finished in matt Brabus Shadow Gray. It’s a one-time deal now, so don’t even ask the price.
