Apple’s Greg Joswiak made it clear today that Apple plans to unveil new products next week, teasing updated Macs. In a social media post, Joswiak said to “Mac your calendars” as an exciting week of announcements begins on Monday morning.
With Joswiak’s announcement, it looks like there won’t be a special October event for Macs this year, but instead Apple will introduce new products via a press release. Software updates for iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 will launch on Monday, but new Mac announcements could also start on Monday. In previous years, Apple has set a daily launch schedule for new products when no event was planned.
Rumors and multiple MacBook Pro leaks indicate that Apple is ready to unveil the first M4 Macs. We expect new models of the Mac mini, iMac and MacBook Pro.
The iMac, the entry-level Mac mini and the entry-level MacBook Pro will all contain the M4 chip, which we actually got in the iPad Pro models earlier this year. The more expensive MacBook Pro models will use M4 Pro and M4 Max chips, while the Mac mini will also get the M4 Pro.
We don’t expect any design changes for the iMac or MacBook Pro, but it’s rumored that the Mac mini will be smaller and closer in size to the Apple TV. Due to the smaller size it could be slightly thicker. For all entry-level models, rumors suggest RAM will start at 16GB instead of 8GB, bringing better performance for Apple Intelligence features.
